Joan Fletcher practices primarily in litigation. She is co-chair of Dickinson’s litigation section and has significant experience in state and federal courts with complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage and defense litigation, non-compete and trade secret litigation, and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) defense and consultation.　

Joan is the author of the Iowa chapters in Business Torts: A Fifty-State Guide (Aspen Publishers, 2007-2011 editions) and Trade Secrets and Agreements Not to Compete: A State-by-State Compendium (Defense Research Institute, 2008), as well as numerous other articles on litigation- and OSHA-related topics.　

Joan is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America™ and a member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association and the Defense Research Institute. In 2009 she was selected for inclusion in the Iowa Super Lawyers list published by Great Plains Super Lawyers magazine.

Currently Joan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and serves as secretary and general counsel for the organization. She previously served on the Executive Committee of the Agency Board of Children & Families of Iowa, including serving as president of the Agency Board in 2005-2006.

Joan is a 1989 graduate of Drake University Law School and a member of the Order of the Coif.
