Proposed rules extend minimum wage and overtime protections to many in-home care workers

On December 27, 2011, the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would provide minimum wage and overtime protections to workers who provide in-home care services for the elderly and infirm. The change will affect nearly two million workers.

OSHA publishes proposed rulemaking to prevent injuries from slips, trips and falls on walking-working surfaces

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced its plans to require improved worker protection from tripping, slipping and falling hazards on walking and working surfaces in a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) published in today’s Federal Register.
