Dickinson’s Employment & Labor Law Group is one of Iowa’s largest and most recognized. The group consists of ten attorneys, six of whom practice primarily in employment law. It is also one of only three such practice groups in Iowa to earn a Band 1 ranking in the Labor & Employment area in the most recent edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. The group also received Tier 1 rankings for Employment Law/Management-Des Moines, Iowa; Labor Law/Management-Des Moines, Iowa; and Immigration Law-Des Moines, Iowa; and a Tier 2 ranking in Litigation/Employment Law-Des Moines, Iowa, in the 2011/2012 U.S. News & World Report “Best Law Firms” rankings.
The attorneys in Dickinson’s Employment & Labor Law Group annually produce a new edition of the “Model Policies and Forms for Iowa Employers” reference book (published and distributed under the auspices of the firm’s client, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry) and frequently contribute materials and make presentations to professional associations and employers on a wide range of labor and employment law topics. Many of our employment and labor attorneys are members of the Society for Human Resource Management and other professional and employer trade associations. We maintain the Iowa Employer Law Blog and produce a newsletter for clients, “Hire Perspectives,” which focuses on current legal trends and issues in employment and labor law. We also conduct an annual employment law seminar for clients to keep them up-to-date on current legal issues related to the management of their human resources.
Our firm’s employment and labor attorneys have extensive experience and expertise in representing and counseling clients in matters of traditional labor law and general employment law. We represent private and public sector employers as well as a number of trade associations with specific interests in labor and employment issues, including Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa and the Iowa Association of Business and Industry. Our goal is to help our clients minimize the risk of legal liability while accomplishing their important business objectives.
