On May 13, 2011, United States Citizenship & Immigration Services announced the launch of I-9 Central, a website that provides both employers and employees one-click access to resources, tips and guidance to better understand the Form I-9 process and to properly complete Form I-9.  'I-9 Central is the latest in our ongoing efforts to better serve the 7.5 million employers who use Form I-9 every time they hire an employee,' said USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas. 'It provides critical information for all employers – whether they hire a single employee or hundreds – in an accessible, intuitive and comprehensive online format.' Tabs linking to additional information in various categories include: What's New; Complete & Correct; Accepted Documents; Retain & Store; Employee Rights; Penalties; About the Form; and Customer Support. I-9 Central complements additional online resources, including the  Handbook for Employers: Instructions for Completing Form I-9 (M-274) revised earlier this year, and the E-Verify Self-Check, the topic of an earlier Iowa Employer Law Blog post. Iowa employers are encouraged to explore the I-9 Central site and consult it when making new hires.
