If you have not already done so, it's time to prepare the Form 300A, the annual summary of injuries and illnesses recorded on your OSHA 300 Log. The Form 300A must be posted in each establishment, in a conspicuous place or places where notices to employees are customarily posted, no later than February 1, 2016 and kept in place until April 30, 2016. Employers must maintain the OSHA 300 Log, the 300A Summary and the OSHA 301 Incident Report forms for five years following the end of the calendar year that the records cover.

This is a particularly important reminder for employers in industries that were not covered prior to OSHA's revised record-keeping rule, which went into effect January 1, 2015. The revised rule provided a list of establishments that are newly required to keep these records, as well as an updated list of industries partially exempt from keeping these records. The updated lists of both partially exempt and newly covered industries are available at: www.osha.gov/recordkeeping2014. Under the new rule, establishments in companies with 10 or fewer employees at all times in the previous year continue to be exempt from keeping OSHA records, regardless of their industry classification.
