Dickinson Attorneys Edwards and Repp to Share Expertise at 2017 Bloethe Tax School

Cody J. Edwards and David M. Repp, are pleased to be part of the 2017 Bloethe Tax School December 6-8 at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown.  Edwards and Repp will share their wide ranging expertise on tax matters in two different Tax School seminars.

David’s December 7 seminar, Joint Revocable Trusts, will cover the consequences of using joint revocable trusts in Iowa.  Joint revocable trusts are common estate planning vehicles used in community property states but they do not work well in common law states such as Iowa.  Mr. Repp will explain why, and if a practitioner still insists on using them, he will discuss pitfalls that must be avoided in order to steer clear of professional malpractice. 

In his December 8 Standard Tax Track seminar, Iowa Sales (and Use) Tax Issues: Practitioner’s Perspective, Cody will provide an overview of Iowa’s sales and use tax regime.  Mr. Edwards will also offer a unique insight into Iowa’s sales and use tax laws affecting manufacturers, farmers, and contractors by comparing his and the Department of Revenue’s tax law interpretation.
