Personal Injury
Dickinson's personal injury lawyers are experienced in personal injury law and litigation, with a focus on individualized attention to clients and their cases. Product Liability
Dickinson's litigators represent clients in the area of product liability litigation in state and federal courts. We offer the experience necessary to pursue liability claims and defenses in matters involving complex technical and scientific issues. Our product liability attorneys have represented clients in matters involving serious personal injuries and deaths relating to a broad range of products and industries, including industrial equipment; propane tank explosions; propane powered water heaters, furnaces and welding torches; insecticides, acids and other toxic substances; playground equipment; and all terrain vehicles.
Professional Liability
We offer experienced and aggressive representation in defending professional liability cases. Our attorneys have litigated a wide range of these matters in state and federal courts. Recognizing that some cases are best resolved by settlement, our trial attorneys practicing in the professional liability area are as skilled and prepared in mediation, arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution settings as they are in the courtroom. We offer legal representation for professionals including architects, accountants, attorneys, directors and officers, insurance agents and brokers, and other business professionals. We also strive to educate our clients regarding issues relevant to their particular area of professional services to minimize the risk of future claims.
OSHA Litigation
Dickinson's litigators represent businesses that have been issued citations by the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) for the alleged violation of workplace safety standards. IOSHA generally enforces federal OSHA standards as adopted by the Labor Services Division of Iowa Workforce Development. When a citation is issued, the recipient is entitled - but not required - to participate in an informal conference with officials of the agency within 15 business days to negotiate a reduction or dismissal of the citation and monetary fine. The recipient is also entitled to contest the citation in formal litigation before the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, with appeals to the Iowa District Court, Iowa Court of Appeals, and Iowa Supreme Court. We are also available to advise clients regarding OSHA compliance before a citation is ever issued.
